Developing the Laterlife Network

 

The need for an Over 55’s Network became apparent in Meath following a baseline study of over 600 older people resident in the county in 2011. The ‘Shaping The Future’ report found a need for a county-wide structure to facilitate interaction, dialogue and connections between agencies, service providers and older people. In 2012 Meath Partnership consequently secured LEADER funding to establish and support an Over 55's Network in the County to bridge this gap. 

 

A number of consultation events occurred between Meath Partnership, Meath County Council and the Age Friendly County initiative prior to establishing the Network. An advisory committee of ten people aged 55 and over from across the county also advised Meath Partnership on the best approach to take when establishing the Network.
